Our CSR approach.
CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) is a concept in which companies integrate social, environmental, and economic concerns into their activities and interactions with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis.
In 2007, we implemented a CSR policy in order to best reconcile economic development, respect for the individual and environmental protection. The approach was set up based on the main issues related to the group’s activities.
Our company has structured this process around the 3 pillars of sustainable development, namely:
- The social and societal component
- The environmental component
- The economic component.
We ask for and encourage mutual respect between employees, while teamwork is one of our goals. Our corporate staff management is based on trust, motivation and encouragement. We believe that it’s our duty to promote and offer proper training to all our employees on a basis of absolute equality and the profitable allocation of people with different talents for the various fields of work, as well as with a performance based salary.
Regarding the societal component, we strive to offer quality and flexible services that the general public can access. We’ve entered into various partnerships with a large number of municipalities in Luxembourg to offer you great deals. The Flexibus service allows people who are alone, who don’t drive or don’t have a car to actively take part in social life within the municipality again, especially in the countryside where villages are extensive but sparsely populated. Our vehicles feature large doors and ramps, ideal for this type of transport.
Security plays a vital role in our CSR strategy. In addition to mandatory training, our drivers regularly undergo internal training. We ensure that all our vehicles comply with Luxembourg and European road safety standards. Services like Night Rider, Event Rider, Cool Bus or our shuttle services for all kinds of events mean that users can leave their car and go out with peace of mind.
As for the environmental component, it plays a key role within the group, especially for Sales-Lentz. We have undertaken numerous steps to reduce our environmental footprint. Sales-Lentz was the first passenger transport company in Luxembourg to establish a carbon footprint and to offer – since 2012 – the eco-labelling system.
Our pioneering role is our drive to always research and develop the most modern technologies. In fact, Sales-Lentz began investing in hybrid vehicles as early as 2009, significantly reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, we have internally developed an eco-driving training concept for each and every driver.
In 2004, one of Luxembourg’s largest photovoltaic plants (2,215 panels in total) was inaugurated on our Bascharage site. Covering an area of around 2,000 m2, these solar panels develop a power of 354 kWp, which prevents the release of some 150 tonnes of CO2 on an annual basis.
Over the years, these efforts have been recognized and rewarded by hallmarks like “Made in Luxembourg” or “Socially Responsible Company” (since 2010). Sales-Lentz was awarded the “Luxembourg Prize for Quality and Excellence”, which is the highest distinction for companies interested in improving their processes, products and services for maximum customer satisfaction. We also signed the Diversity Charter in 2014.
Aware of our responsibility to integrate and safeguard existing jobs, our top commitment is also to ensure employment. We therefore contribute to our country’s economic success and fulfil our role towards regions in which we develop our activities. We actively participate in innovative projects. We respect human rights and avoid any form of discrimination based on origin, religion, age or gender. We are aware of our pioneering role and want to actively contribute to promoting more responsible, consensual and respectful transportation.
